Contracts for Atlanta and Savannah Ratified by Membership!

On July 7th & 8th, 2021, members from across the Atlanta and Savannah Divisions voted overwhelmingly to approve the new contracts between Kroger and UFCW Local 1996.

This contract will be effective the week beginning Sunday July 18th ,2021. This means all new provisions, including pay rate increases, will go into effect that week.

This contract resulted in the largest overall wage package that we have ever achieved in bargaining, with wage increases valued at over $300 Million! All while ensuring that your union pension and healthcare benefits remain secure.

We would like to thank the UFCW Local 1996 bargaining committee for their months of diligent work on these contracts and thank the membership for actively participating in the process and voting to approve the contracts. We are excited to show the power that essential workers can have in their workplaces to bargain for higher wages, including comprehensive healthcare benefits and a pension. When workers and their union can come to the table together with a company to find solutions, everyone benefits.

If you have any questions about the changes in the Atlanta or Savannah contract, please reach out to your Union Representative. You can find the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on our website, www.UFCW1996.org. Please note the MOA only outlines the changes in the contract, and these changes will be added to the overall contract. That document will be available to you soon. Tentative Agreement Reached in Kroger Atlanta & Savannah Contract Negotiations!

Today, UFCW Local 1996 and The Kroger Company reached a Tentative Agreement on the new Kroger Atlanta and Kroger Savannah contracts that are fully recommended by your Bargaining Committee.

We are happy to say that, because of the hard work of your Union Bargaining Committee, this fully recommended Tentative Agreement secures comprehensive wage increases, including significant increases to starting rates, as well as multiple pay increases throughout the life of this agreement. This agreement also protects pension benefits and ensures that our members continue to have a competitive healthcare plan.

We will be releasing the “Memorandum of Agreement”, also known as an MOA, on our website as soon as the final documents are ready. The MOA will include highlights of the changes made to contract language as well as a complete overview of all changes made. It will also include a full explanation of all wage increases and changes to the wage scale, as well as healthcare adjustments. There will also be printed copies available at Kroger stores. Your Union Representative will also be available to answer questions about the agreement.

The agreement must be ratified to go into effect. You must be a member to vote on this agreement. Voting dates, locations, and times will be posted soon – both on our website as well as in your store.
